Nucor Steel Gallatin
As a world leader in steel, Nucor expanded its Lexington, Kentucky, location after purchasing Gallatin Steel. imi was selected as the concrete supplier for this large scale construction project in conjunction with Brighan Contractors (ABC), Whittenburg Construction, Messer Construction, and East + Westbrook.
Project Overview
Throughout the project, imi delivered ready mixed concrete to multiple contractors daily. The team utilized regional resources to maintain production rates, ensure product quality, and meet the schedule requirements. imi was able to service the job by making large foundation and slab pours, using multiple plants, and pulling personnel from other locations to assist; exceeding the customer’s expectations.
imi’s ready mixed concrete was able to support Nucor’s pickling galvanizing line (PGL) of galvanized metal, making this the first established PGL in North America. Because of the quality, Nucor adopted imi concrete as its standard for all uses.
